Nagai

"Forevermore."

The Nagai Clan ZJE7xzv

Vital Information:

Home Village: Hakagakure
Specialization: Kinjutsu
KKG: Shinrai No Uragiri

Clan Details:

Description:

The Nagai is a Clan consisting of individuals who are believed to have descended originally from Sunagakure and who had migrated to Iwagakure during the Last Shinobi War to seek refuge within their borders after the initial destruction of their Village. Unfortunately, those who had made it to Iwagakure found only death and destruction awaiting them as the entirety of the continent as well as Kirigakure was plunged into total war. As a result of the enormous loss of life, both of their own families and of those who were close to them, the Nagai were formed and began to practice a secret art which would eventually become their Kekkei Genkai later on.

Their studies were guided by the immense destruction around them and, because of this, their Secret Art focused upon the sustainment of their own lives as they were already aware of Resurrection Jutsu which existed and knew that such Techniques were not only shunned by the populace at large but also required either the death of the user themselves or were ineffective in bringing back the entire essence of the individual being resurrected.

The Nagai would then focus entirely upon the individual, believing that if resurrecting an individual proved to be ineffectual - then they would instead focus upon keeping their members alive for as long as possible with the power required from this being stored within a Curse Mark that fed upon individuals slain by the members with those who were more closely linked seeming to have a greater effect upon the Curse Mark and offering an effective, if not ruthless, method of achieving near-immortality.

This was, however, not noticed only by the Nagai and many shinobi have begun to regard the Clan at large as untrustworthy due to their history of betrayal and deceit - yet their greatly enhanced endurance and unique ability to withstand attacks that would kill most other shinobi have made them nonetheless invaluable, often as ANBU Units or simply as spies and saboteurs thanks to the same proficiency in deception which causes the general public to distrust them.

Fighting Style:

Preferring to fight from the shadows, many of the members of the Nagai clan train in weaponry and techniques which do not require confronting an enemy directly or which can be utilized from a far enough distance to ensure the member's safety. Those who do elect to train in more confrontational styles of combat often do so with the aim of ending a battle swiftly and without leaving behind much in the way of evidence, a trail, or other such things which could be used to lead another individual back toward the member in question.

Poison is also a favored tool of the Nagai, as it can be utilized for a wide variety of purposes from outright neutralizing a target to simply paralyzing them and anything one can imagine in-between. Many Nagai adept in the use of poisons will use such knowledge to incapacitate those needed for the advancement of their Kekkei Genkai or targets of a Mission they are currently undertaking, although they may also use such poisons on themselves meant to provide the illusion of being killed or for other deceptive means.

Culture:

Nagai Culture is a curiosity as, due to their unique Kekkei Genkai, betrayal is practically inevitable to those who grow close to a member of the Clan. This makes interacting with a member of the Nagai a rather dangerous affair in which one must be able to both simultaneously win their trust yet also convince the Nagai in question that they are either too difficult to betray or simply not worth the effort in doing so. It is rare that a Nagai grows a genuine fondness for an individual, although the possibility is always present and perhaps is the reason why some individuals will still seek out a Nagai for friendship or intimacy despite their nature and history.

Nagai also appear to have an unspoken rule of not killing another Nagai for the simple reason that doing so would make their lives even more difficult than they already were, however, they are known to disregard this rule in the case of individuals who have attempted to take the life of an individual that the other had been attempting to cultivate trust in such that they could later kill them, or in the event that one Nagai is attempting to divulge information regarding the identities of other Nagai to individuals outside of the Clan, as this places them in grave danger.

However, it is important to note that due to the nature of their unique abilities as well as the ideals of the Clan itself, Nagai do not typically gather in large groups and even more rarely do they choose to partner with one another as it is only likely to expose one of them to the other and result in a rather easy kill for one of the two Nagai. Instead, they only gather together during times of imminent threat toward their Clan as a whole and otherwise live their lives individually from one another, only acknowledging each other's existence through sparing them as a result of their Membership within the Clan.
