Description:

Formed during the peaceful period following the Last Great Shinobi War, The Cardinals present themselves as representations of Humanity's deepest and darkest impulses and desires, with each major Member representing an individual aspect, or Sin, of Humanity while placing their own individual and often depraved twist upon the Sin in question while attempting to convert ordinary individuals into following them by promising unfathomable knowledge or some sort of fulfillment of a particular desire dependant upon the individual being recruited.

Although they are structured in much the same way as a religious establishment or order, they themselves hold no inherent divine beliefs in the sense that they believe the greatness which they are striving for is instead something awaiting them in another world entirely rather than an afterlife of some sort. As a result, The Cardinals adamantly detest those who follow religious orders and seek to turn the followers of these orders against them, believing that the complete and utter destruction of these spiritual belief systems will bring Humanity as a whole more in alignment with themselves.

Ultimately, it is unknown what The Cardinals plan to do with their followers in the end or what their plans are in the end - all that is truly known is that they wish to see the rest of Humanity give in and embrace their darkest selves.

Ideals:

First and foremost, The Cardinals are founded upon embracing one's darker side and in giving in to primal urges and desires in order to satiate them. It is the belief of The Cardinals that suppressing this side of one's self will prevent the individual in question from being able to further themselves and will only hold them back in their training and quest for power.

Secondly, The Cardinals believe that religious establishments and spiritual belief systems must be completely eradicated save for devotion to themselves and to the beliefs which they spout to their followers. This is because in the eyes of The Cardinals, these systems have restricted Humanity as a whole from reaching their full potential and that the belief in a higher power or powers has led only to weakness among the population as a whole, as these individuals are only as strong as their Faith.

Thirdly, The Cardinals believe that upon reaching one's true potential through satiating their darkest side long enough, knowledge beyond the comprehension of ordinary mortals will be bestowed upon the individual in question and that they will then become something even greater than Human - They will "Ascend" in a sense to a new type of existence, something akin to the Gods that many believe in.

Finally, The Cardinals believe in treating those under them with respect so long as they are submissive to the organization as a whole and that the Followers of any given Sin should be treated with the same reverence as the Sin themselves, as they are all united by a shared goal of shaking off the bonds of Humanity.



Hierarchy: Accepted individuals are chosen to represent a Cardinal Sin, others who serve under them are recognized as Acolytes of the Sin which they serve.
