Description:
The Umbral Hands are a Guild of Assassins which reside within what is now the land around Ketsuekigakure. They are primarily occupied by Missing Ninja who have turned to such work after the destruction of Kirigakure or simply those who find the life of an Assassin-For-Hire to be more profitable or enjoyable than the alternative of becoming a typical Village Shinobi.

Although they are Assassins whose loyalty ultimately is with whoever is contracting them at the moment, they have attempted to give themselves a sense of loyalty toward Ketsuekigakure by donating a portion of the profits from their bloody work to the Village - although understandably many are hesitant are accepting funds from an association whose one and only trade is in death.

The Umbral Hands, although they are headquartered within the lands of Ketsuekigakure, have no singular building from which they operate as doing such would likely make them easy targets if the Village they reside nearby decided to deal with their organization through direct confrontation. Instead, the Umbral Hands is ran through constant correspondence between members and their leadership, with a multitude of small buildings or businesses which serve as a front through which much of the letters and contracts are handled and furthermore from which members can be dispatched discreetly under the guise of travelers and such without raising too much suspicion.

Despite this rather nomadic style of governance regarding its members, the constant flow of information and contracts, its leaders still manage to instill discipline within the group due to how quickly and effectively punishments are doled out among those who disobey the core principles of the Faction or who are "Underperforming" according to their leaders. It is believed this is done through Sensory Techniques and Curse Marks which allow for the remote 'disposal' of troublesome individuals as well as their whereabouts at any given time.

As such, the Umbral Hands are made a name for themselves as a fearsome and effective group of Assassins who are often the first choice for high-ranking individuals or even particularly wealthy civilians who want to rid themselves of an individual, no matter who that individual is.

Ideals:

• Efficiency:
  Contracts given to the Umbral Hands will be carried out to the letter, no matter how specific the requests of their clients. It does not matter how many targets are involved, nor how many, they will be taken care of so long as the price is right.
  
  
• Discretion:
  Not a word shall escape the lips of an Umbral who performs a Contract, not even to another Umbral. Contracts are between the Client and the Umbral and no one else, this is something which the Umbral Hands take extremely seriously - any breach of such confidentiality will result in severe punishment.
  
  
• Punctuality:
  Timing is often of the essence regarding Contracts and the Umbral Hands promise that no such Contract with proper payment attached shall go unanswered. Even if the Contract is a minor one, the Umbral Hands will ensure that a member of their Faction makes contact within a single day of receiving the notice.
  
  
• Ruthlessness:
  Morality is not something which the Umbral Hands concern themselves with. As they are guided by the price of the Contract beyond all else, Clients are assured that no matter how young or old the Target, no matter how sickly or healthy, if they are the Target - they will be taken care of, no questions asked.
  
  
• Loyalty:
  Although not all Umbral share this ideal, it is considered proper to remain loyal to the original Client despite how many additional funds that a Target may offer. Loyalty is what ensures repeat clients and the Head reserves the right to punish those who begin to make the Umbral Hands untrustworthy in the eyes of their Clients - although so long as one is discreet about things, it is possible to maintain the illusion of loyalty while playing both sides.
  

Hierarchy:

Members within the Faction are separated into those who have not yet been proven, known as Initiates or Fingers, and those who have been made full members of the Faction, known simply as Hands. There are some special designations, such as the "Arms" which are two individuals who are considered to be the strongest within the Faction and who are tasked with ensuring that Contracts are carried out effectively and that any members who go against the wishes of the current leader of the Faction are dealt with promptly and efficiently.

The singular individual who is in charge of overseeing the Faction's activities is known as the "Head" and has the authority to dispose of Faction Members are their discretion if they are not performing up to the leader's standards or have attempted to defect or otherwise reveal any sensitive information regarding the Faction as a whole or any individual members.
